Velvine Nungari is a 24-year-old lady who was assaulted and left with fatal injuries by her date. Part of her spine and cervix got fractured. She later succumbed to the injuries; while at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital.

Due to the gory details surrounding her death, Kenyans are demanding the prosecution of the man alleged to have committed the crime. YouTuber Maureen Waititu is one of the celebrities who have joined the social media campaign under the hashtag Justice for Vesh. She shared a picture of herself and her two sons Lexy and Kai, accompanied by a supportive message. ‘The next generation of women depends on wonderful parents who’ll raise their sons better than today’s generation. To moms of daughters, I promise to do my part and raise men who’ll respect and take care of them. I also pray for immense change that will allow both men and women to feel safe and protected by one another. #Justice for Vesh.’ She wrote.
