Mike Mbuvi Sonko, the former Governor of Nairobi, recently took to his social media to advise his followers on ways to advance in life.
Sonko advised them to discover their talents so as better their lives. He told his fans to stop looking for satisfaction from the outside but focus on what inspires them.
“Whatever you do, do not allow yourself to drift through life. You need to grow up and accept that answers will not simply fall on your lap” said Sonko.
Sonko further advised his fans not to go with the flow. He told them not to imitate other people’s lives or take jobs that others consider stylish.
“Everyone has a talent - in one form or another - so rather than look outside of yourself for inspiration i.e. trying to be like Mr. Zuckerberg who is bought WhatsApp for $19bn, or someone you are not or choosing a career because it sounds cool, instead, look inside yourself and focus on the talent that lies within you”
he added.
Sonko also added that talent alone does not lead to success. He said that one has to put in a lot of effort to achieve
“Once you discover your talent, then this is when the really hard work starts i.e. self-discipline! Talent alone will not get you to the promised land” said Sonko.
