Covid-19 Frequently Asked Questions and Answers 2021.

Question: Do smokers have higher risks for COVID-19?

Answer: Current evidence suggests that the severity of COVID-19 disease is higher among smokers. Smoking impairs lung function, making it more difficult for the body to fight off respiratory disease due to the new coronavirus.

Question: Can the coronavirus disease spread through feces?

Answer: The risk of catching the COVID-19 virus from the feces of an infected person appears to be low.

There is some evidence that the COVID-19 virus may lead to intestinal infection and be present in faces. Approximately 2−10% of cases of confirmed COVID-19 disease presented with diarrhoea (2−4), and two studies detected COVID-19 viral RNA fragments in the faecal matter of COVID-19 patients (5,6).

However, to date only one study has cultured the COVID-19 virus from a single stool specimen (7). There have been no reports of faecal−oral transmission of the COVID-19 virus.

Answer: The lungs are the organs most affected by COVID‐19

Question: Will climate change make the COVID-19 pandemic worse?

Answer: There is no evidence of a direct connection between climate change and the emergence or transmission of COVID-19 disease. As the disease is now well established in the human population, efforts should focus on reducing transmission and treating patients.

However, climate change may indirectly affect the COVID-19 response, as it undermines environmental determinants of health, and places additional stress on health systems.

Question: Can masks prevent the transmission of COVID-19?

Answer: Masks should be used as part of a comprehensive strategy of measures to suppress transmission and save lives; the use of a mask alone is not sufficient to provide an adequate level of protection against COVID-19.

Question: Which is the official name of the coronavirus disease?

Answer: The final name of the disease will be provided by the International Classification of Diseases (ICD). WHO is also proposing '2019-nCoV' as an interim name of the virus. The final decision on the official name of the virus will be made by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses
