England 2-1 Iran

In an intense match at the FIFA U17 World Cup in Jakarta, England exhibited their resilience, securing a spot in the knockout stage by edging past Iran 2-1. The Young Lions displayed determination and skill, claiming their second group stage victory and proving their mettle in Indonesia.

The game's defining moment unfolded in the dying minutes when Joel Ndala scored a spectacular late goal, sealing England's hard-earned triumph.

This win propels England to a dominant position in Group C, amassing six points after their commanding 9-0 win against New Caledonia last Saturday. With a three-point lead over both Iran and Brazil, the Young Lions head confidently into their final group match against the South Americans on Friday.

The match against Iran posed a significant challenge for Ryan Garry's squad. Despite conceding an early goal by Abolfazi Zamani from Nima's corner, England had to rally against a robust and well-organized Iranian side that had previously defeated Brazil.

Trailing at halftime, England showcased relentless attacking intent. Their perseverance paid off following a tactical substitution by Garry, bringing in Reiss Russell-Denny and Justin Oboavwoduo just before the hour mark. The pair made an immediate impact, setting up Matty Warhurst for a crucial equalizer, sparking England's resurgence.

Buoyed by their momentum, the Young Lions relentlessly pressed for the winning goal. Despite openings as the clock wound down, Iran's determined defense made the task challenging.

However, in the 90th minute, Ndala emerged as the hero, orchestrating a moment of brilliance. Despite a crowded defense, Ndala showed incredible composure, skillfully curling the ball past the goalkeeper and three defenders, prompting jubilant celebrations among the England camp.

Now, Ryan Garry's squad shifts focus to their upcoming clash with Brazil, aiming to sustain their winning streak and cement their position in the tournament.

England's Lineup:
- Goalkeeper: Tommy Setford (Ajax)
- Defenders: Josh Acheampong (Chelsea), Lakyle Samuel (Manchester City) (c), Joe Johnson (Luton Town), Ishé Samuels Smith (Chelsea)
- Midfielders: Michael Golding (Chelsea), Joel Ndala (Manchester City), Myles Lewis-Skelly (Arsenal), Chris Rigg (Sunderland)
- Forwards: Matty Warhurst (Manchester City), Ethan Nwaneri (Arsenal)

Substitutes Used:
- Reiss-Alexander Russell-Denny (Chelsea) replaced Rigg at 59', Justin Oboavwoduo (Manchester City) replaced Nwaneri at 59', Samuel Amo-Ameyaw (Southampton) replaced Lewis-Skelly at 76', Jayden Meghoma (Southampton) replaced Johnson at 76'

Under the guidance of head coach Ryan Garry, goals from Russell-Denny and Ndala secured a memorable victory, highlighting England's relentless pursuit of success in this prestigious tournament.
